Hunter Announces New 45DS for 2008
Model Year Alachua, FL (August 3rd , 2007) Company
officials today announced the launching of their newest
model, the Hunter 45DS. This new boat replaces the
highly successful Hunter 44 retaining some of the
boats most positive characteristics and marking improvements
in several key areas suggested by dealers and customers.
John Peterson, Hunter’s Director of Sales &
Marketing said, “Our main goal was to retain
the positive sailing characteristics of the 44, yet
create a more striking appearance and a larger cockpit
with dual helm station. We also wanted a better aft
stateroom, without sacrificing the main salon.”
Peterson went on to add, “Now that the boat
has been launched, we are absolutely thrilled with
the final result. The wraparound windshield adopted
from the 45CC delivers a sleek and distinctive profile
that also allows huge volumes of natural light inside
the boat. The brilliant illumination enhances the
rich cherry woodwork to create a truly stunning interior.
Other Interior Features of the Hunter
45DS:
• Pullman forward cabin layout. Placing the
head and shower compartment in the forepeak allows
an en-suite vanity and storage space along the starboard
side just opposite the double berth mounted on the
port side; ample storage shelving and drawers are
provided throughout as well as a large hanging locker.
• Expanded aft stateroom. The expanded aft stateroom
features a centerline queen size berth, fully accessible
from both sides. A large hanging locker, drop-in bins
along both sides of the berth and nightstand shelving
offer extensive storage capacity. Private access to
the aft head is provided along with plenty of natural
lighting and ventilation. On deck, the twin wheel
configuration provides the helmsperson with the ultimate
in comfort, control and visibility for every point
of sail. Transom access from the cockpit is improved
with a wide, unobstructed walkway between the leather
wrapped wheels. An aft facing pivoting chart plotter
bracket holds an optional Raymarine E-120 networked
to a smaller full-function display at the nav station.
On the centerline of the cockpit is a Corian®
table that also functions as a hand hold, foot brace,
drink holder, and cold storage bin. It’s a multifunctional
feature that greatly enhances the comfort and utility
of the cockpit.
Other on deck highlights include:
• Stainless Steel Traveler Arch. Moves the traveler
up overhead and to the end of the boom for easier
adjustment and an overall cleaner cockpit.
• B & R rig by Selden. The B & R design
is proven reliable, more stable, and easer to handle
over thousands of boats with thousands of ocean miles.
Selden’s
fanatical attention to detail in the spar construction
ensures long term reliability unmatched by any spar
manufacturer.
• Doubled Ended Mainsheet. Introduced with the
Hunter 49 last year, this new feature provides the
crew with unprecedented access to this important control.
The traditional starboard cabin top winch location
for the mainsheet has been preserved, but with an
additional control at the port helm station.
The overall construction is the same modular method
used on other Hunter models. The hull is balsa sandwich
above the waterline with solid FRP below the waterline
and two layers of Kevlar in the forward sections for
extra impact resistance. The structural grid / pan
is hand laminated in a single piece and fused to the
hull with the interior components preassembled in
place. The plywood cored deck is matched to the hull
using an outward
flange joint sealed with 3M 5200 and mechanically
fastened with both screws and bolts.
